World Animal Day | World Smile Day

    History of World Animal Day
On March 24, 1925, World Animal Day was originally organized by a German named Heinrich Zimmermann (1887–1942), who was not only a writer, but also published a bi-monthly magazine. Named Mensch und Hund / Man And Dog, he used the magazine as a medium to promote his views on animal welfare and to establish the World Animal Day Committee.

    Theme 2024:
The world is their home too As you'll know, World Animal Day takes place on 4 October, and we like to mark and celebrate the day at our October Open Day – which this year takes place on Sunday 6 October (weather permitting!). This year's theme for World Animal Day is: 'The world is their home too' which we wholly support.
On 24 March 1925, his committee organized World Animal Day. They organized it at the Sports Palace in Berlin, Germany to raise awareness about animal welfare issues of the time, and about 5,000 people took part in the first event. And the event was marked with the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi which was the 4th of October. Francis of Assisi had seen the plight of the animals around him with his own eyes and wanted to cure their pain.

    World smile day

    Background:
World Smile Day is celebrated on the first Friday in October each year. World Smile Day will fall on October 6th. This day is dedicated to promoting acts of kindness and spreading smiles around the world. The idea behind World Smile Day is to encourage people to do something nice for someone else and make them smile, whether it's through a kind gesture, a compliment, or a small act of charity.

    Artistic representation of smiles:
Harvey Ball, a commercial artist from Worcester, Massachusetts, is credited with creating the iconic smiley face symbol in 1963. In 1999, he declared the first Friday in October as World Smile Day, and it has been celebrated annually ever since.

    Theme 2024:
    Do an act of kindness.
The theme of this day in the year 2024 is “Do an act of kindness”. Help one person smile.” The aim is to bring a bit of joy to the world by encouraging people to do random acts of kindness for each other. If everyone does one thing to make someone else smile, the world would be a much kinder and happier place.

On World Smile Day, people are encouraged to participate in activities that bring joy to others and foster goodwill. It's a day to remember the power of a simple smile and how it can brighten someone's day. Many individuals and organizations use this occasion to engage in philanthropic activities and spread positivity.

Whether it's through random acts of kindness, volunteering, or simply sharing a smile with those around you, World Smile Day serves as a reminder of the importance of kindness and the positive impact it can have on the world.
