वैशाख शुक्ल तृतिया
Shiv Parvati Vivaha Mahotsav
Exclusive audio
According to traditional belief, the divine marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati took place on the day of Akshaya Tritiya. Therefore, this day is considered extremely auspicious in Hinduism.
On this day, especially:
- Women perform Gauri-Shankar puja to be blessed with a good husband or for a happy married life.
- Performing acts of charity and donation is believed to yield eternal spiritual merit (Akshaya phal).
- Purchasing gold, silver, grains, or other valuable assets is considered highly beneficial.
Brief Mythological Story of the Shiva-Parvati Wedding
Goddess Parvati was born in the house of the Himalayan king and from a very young age, she desired to marry Lord Shiva. With unwavering determination, she undertook severe penance and austere vows for several years to please him.
Impressed by her devotion, and with the help of Lord Brahma, Sage Narada, and others, the marriage of Shiva and Parvati was solemnized on the day of Akshaya Tritiya.
This day, therefore, symbolizes divine union, eternal love, and spiritual devotion.
Hence, the Shiva-Parvati Wedding Festival is celebrated on Akshaya Tritiya with great devotion and enthusiasm in many places.
Best wishes on this sacred occasion!

What is Akshaya Tritiya?
Akshaya Tritiya falls in the Tritiya Tithi of Sukla Paksha of Baishakha month, Baisakha translates to a churning stick, every festival which falls in this month advocates for the purity and spiritual awakening. Akshaya means something that is beyond the process of eroding, which cannot be destroyed, results of the activities performed on this day do not diminish, and good works commenced on this day will summon manifold divine results.
Significance of Akshaya Tritiya:
It is celebrated as the day of the divine marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
It is also believed to mark the beginning of the Treta Yuga.
Any auspicious activity such as marriage, fasting, donations, religious rituals, or construction can be initiated on this day without consulting an astrologer, as it is considered a self-aspicious (Swayam Siddha Muhurat) day.
Importance of Akshaya Tritiya?
It's an auspicious day for the Hindu and Jain community. Utmost wishes that everyone may cultivate spiritual strength on this auspicious day, this day is also commemorated by the reading of scriptures, special pujas, the family deity worship (Ishta Deb), charities, offering homage to one's ancestors, associated with devotees, feeding Brahmins and poor by organizing Bhandara (Community fiesta) and watering and planting trees. All these activities result in the endurance of material opulence and spiritual awakening.
Akshaya Tritiya as a Sattu day.
Normally Akshaya Tritiya also marks the birthday of Lord Parshuram as Chiranjeevi Tritiya. Akshaya Tritiya has a peculiar tradition in Nepal, this is called a Sattu day too. Well, let me explain this ancient beverage today, this is a nutritious mix of ground pulses and cereals. Literally, anything roasted and ground into a fine powder is called Sattu, this typical Sattu is made of barley, chickpea, and other grains and mixed with sugar and water. This is an easy to carry, easy to digest and sturdy food, from the context of Krishna and Sudama to the ancient times and various stages of human civilization, it has been customary to take Sattu on a journey.
Importance of this Tithi
The Satya Yuga was formally started from today's Tithi, while the Dwapar Yuga ended immediately after the end of the Mahabharata Yuga and the Treta Yuga also began in this Tithi. This is such an auspicious day that Lord Mahadeva and mother Parwati also got married in this holy day, writer VedaVyas also started to write "Mahabharata" from this day, if you also have any plans to start with, manifest an eternal commitment and give a power punch starting to it.
National Yak Day
राष्ट्रिय याक दिवस
Exclusive audio
Nestled in the lap of the Himalayas, the Yak is a symbol of harsh geography and a vibrant coexistence with nature. Regarded as the backbone of Himalayan life, culture, and the environment, Nepal is celebrating the Second National Yak Day today in honor of this unique creature.
The yak is not merely an animal; it is the robust foundation of the Himalayan economy. From milk, curd, ghee, and the world-renowned yak cheese to wool and transportation, the yak has provided a lifeline to high-altitude communities for centuries. It has not only given our local products a distinct identity in the global market but has also kept the Himalayan civilization alive.
With changing times, this profession has begun to face crises due to climate change, breeding challenges, and the migration of the younger generation. The Second National Yak Day urges us to tackle these challenges and embrace yak conservation as a collective national responsibility.
The yak herders, who brave harsh snow and rocky terrain to preserve this profession, are the true heroes of Himalayan life. It is now essential to move beyond tradition and transform yak farming professionally by integrating modern technology and "Yak Tourism."
National Yak Day is not just a celebration; it is a shared commitment toward our Himalayan authenticity, biodiversity, and sustainable development. Protecting the yak means safeguarding our Himalayas and their glorious civilization.
