    World Health Day

    Background

World Health Day is a global health awareness day celebrated every year on April 7. It marks the establishment of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1948 and aims to raise awareness about important health issues faced by people around the world. In 1948, the World Health Organization held its first World Health Assembly. The Assembly decided that starting from 1950, April 7 would be celebrated annually as World Health Day.

World Health Day is observed to commemorate the founding of the World Health Organization, and the organization uses this occasion each year to draw global attention to significant public health issues.

Every year, WHO selects a specific theme for World Health Day and conducts awareness campaigns under that theme. World Health Day is a global campaign that invites everyone—from world leaders to citizens of all countries—to focus on a single health challenge with worldwide impact. By highlighting new and emerging health concerns, World Health Day also provides an opportunity to initiate collective action to protect people's health and well-being.

On this day, various programs and activities are organized worldwide, including health campaigns, seminars, conferences, and community initiatives. The main objective of World Health Day is to promote healthy living and encourage people to take active steps to protect their health and well-being.

Governments and private healthcare providers around the world are increasingly focusing on mental health and emotional regulation as key aspects of public health. By placing equal emphasis on both physical and mental well-being, this year’s World Health Day calls on everyone to reflect on exercise, diet, lifestyle, sleep, and overall life satisfaction.

Best wishes to everyone on the occasion of World Health Day.

Hamro Patro - Connecting Nepali Communities
Hamro Patro is one of the first Nepali app to include Nepali Patro, launched in 2010. We started with a Nepali Calendar mobile app to help Nepalese living abroad stay in touch with Nepalese festivals and important dates in Nepali calendar year. Later on, to cater to the people who couldn’t type in Nepali using fonts like Preeti, Ganesh and even Nepali Unicode, we built nepali mobile keyboard called Hamro Nepali keyboard.
