Pradosh Vrata/World Day against Trafficking in Persons

    Pradosh Vrat
Triodashi is called Pradosh. Like Ekadashi, Pradosh is important every month, Vishnu is remembered in Ekadashi and Shiva is remembered in Pradosh. Pradosh begins 45 minutes before sunset and ends 45 minutes after sunset.

    Pradosha Katha
It is mentioned in the scriptures that Lord Shiva cured the disease of the moon on the day of Triodashi, when the effect of the moon was diminishing.

Due to this, Pradosh Vrat is observed in Triodashi of every month in remembrance of Lord Shiva. It is more fruitful to worship Shiva in the time of pradosh.

World Day against Trafficking in Persons

Background of World Day against trafficking in person
The world is now in the age of modernization, but human trafficking is still a serious problem in many countries of the world, including Nepal. Lack of employment and foreign employment, poverty, lack of education, and public awareness, are becoming the main causes of human trafficking. Today, every year, the United Nations is celebrating "International Day against Human Trafficking in person" on July 30 to raise awareness about human trafficking. There are some common examples of human trafficking and trafficking in the lure of foreign employment and the lure of opportunity and prosperity. To end human trafficking, every nation's government must adopt a policy of emphasizing poverty alleviation and creating employment opportunities. In Nepal too, the government has enacted laws on human trafficking and smuggling control, but the lack of effective implementation has not ended the situation where perpetrators can easily escape and victims cannot get justice.

    Theme 2023
"Reach every victim of trafficking, leave no one behind"
The campaign for World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2023 aims to raise awareness of disturbing developments and trends identified by UNODC and calls on governments, law enforcement, public services, and civil society to assess and enhance their efforts to strengthen prevention, identify and support victims, and end impunity.

Legal provisions against Human Trafficking in Nepal
Human Trafficking and Transportation (Control) Act, 2064
Preamble: Whereas it is expedient to control the acts of human trafficking and transportation, and to protect and rehabilitate the victims of such activity by enacting law, the 'Legislature-Parliament' has enacted this Act.
Yet the implementation and effectiveness of this provision is yet to prioritized in Nepal.

Let's raise our voices against human trafficking.
     Alarms and awareness

Hamro Patro - Connecting Nepali Communities
Hamro Patro is one of the first Nepali app to include Nepali Patro, launched in 2010. We started with a Nepali Calendar mobile app to help Nepalese living abroad stay in touch with Nepalese festivals and important dates in Nepali calendar year. Later on, to cater to the people who couldn’t type in Nepali using fonts like Preeti, Ganesh and even Nepali Unicode, we built nepali mobile keyboard called Hamro Nepali keyboard.
