असोज शुक्ल अष्टमी
Mahaasthami
Have you been engrossed in lingering (Traditional Nepali swing) and family reunions for a Dashain amidst the blue clear skies and sweetness of the Dashain context?
Of course, due to insecurity in Corona and bustle, many of us are celebrating Dashain in our place as usual days of years. Whatever Dashain appears this year, it shall come next year with more fun, let's celebrate this year's Dashain as it is, right?
Crowds at Naurtha's fair and Durga Bhavani's Shakti Peeths, some may be in a hurry to buy sweets, some may be in a hurry to buy meat? Some people may have a desire to play cards, while others may have a desire to meet friends, let's keep the desires alive this year and execute them in the coming years. Anyway, good luck on the eighth day of Dashain of this year.
Today, on Maha-Ashtami, the eighth day of Navratri, the nine forms of Goddess Durga - Shailaputri, Bramhacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidatri - are worshiped.
Today, the eighth form of Durga is worshiped according to the rules and regulations of Mahagauri. Nine small stones are worshiped next to the urn established as Ganesha by offering offerings, fruits, etc. to the installed idols of the goddess.
The urns and Jamara established according to the Vedic tradition on Ghatsthapana is worship today. Today, at midnight, at the beginning of Navami, a special worship of the goddess is performed. The worship of weapons and equipment of the Nepal Army and Police is also done according to the rules and regulations and traditions. Today, special worship of Bhadrakali is also performed. Sati Devi burns herself in the fire pit as she cannot hear the condemnation of her husband Mahadev from the mouth of her father Daksha Prajapati. At the same time, knowing this, Bhadrakali appeared as Mahakali on the same day.
After performing the rituals of Mahagauri and Bhadrakali in the form of Shakti, it is customary to offer goats, chickens, ducks, etc. as an offering.
There has been widespread protest against the practice, with animal rights groups and the international civil society condemning the practice. Non-violence is certainly a good thing, but along with civilization, people have defined the practice and logic of eating meat in their way.
Whether it's the Hindus' Dashain, or the Christians' Christmas and Thanksgiving turkey birds, or the Muslims' Eid-ul-Fitr goats, we've come to see that human civilization has brought carnivorous customs along with some religions and cultures. It has been found that there has been a decrease in the number of offerings. Especially in Dashain, the custom of cutting the goat and feeding meat to the guests was seen as respect and prestige.
In Sanskrit, Vali means to give up anything. Today, we too can make a vow to become a good human being by sacrificing our anger, passion, jealousy, and pride. Happy Maha Ashtami to all.
United Nations day
United Nations Day has been celebrated on October 24 every year since 1948. In 1971, the General Assembly of the United Nations approved a proposal to grant public holidays to all member states on this historic day. Today, various programs are organized around the world to inform about the formation, work, and goals of the United Nations.
The United Nations Week is celebrated from 20 to 26 October every year and October 24 is celebrated as the United Nations Day with special interest and enthusiasm.
When World War II ended and the world began to search for peace, when the United States, including Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Pearl Harbor, were littered with corpses and ammunition. The United Nations has been established for long-term peace at a time when humanity was desperate due to the world war. It is an international organization that maintains coordination and cooperation among all member nations. Replacing the League of Nations with such actions before the end of World War II, the United Nations has been established to establish world peace and coordination more reliably and to prevent the recurrence of wars such as the First and Second World Wars.
Since it is called United Nations in English, we also mean the UN in short. The United Nations is an organization we have all seen, heard, and read about, from war-torn areas to natural disasters patrolling areas with helping hands, medicine, clean food, water, clothes, etc. In Nepal too, most of us have seen different types of vehicles with blue flags and blue number plates.
The United Nations advocates for world peace and harmony in its member states promote the guarantee of basic human rights, supports social and economic development, and restores peace and assistance to victims of any famine, natural disaster, or violence around the world.
Under the auspices of the United Nations, there are specialized organizations to work on various target areas and issues, such as the World Food and Agriculture Organization for Food and Agriculture, the International Atomic Energy Agency, UNICEF for children and women, and so on.
The world is still in turmoil, sometimes in Syria, sometimes in India, sometimes in Pakistan and sometimes in Iraq, sometimes in Afghanistan. Let there be silence in the underdeveloped and weak countries along with the speeches of big and prosperous nations, let there be peace in the world.
In the post-Corona world, the importance of harmony and cooperation between countries has increased, and we believe that the United Nations has embraced this. From the North to the South Pole, from the equator to the Marianas Trench in the Pacific Ocean, and at every latitude and longitude angle, peace be upon us.
World Development information day
Information and communication technologies are likely to provide new solutions to development challenges, especially in the context of globalization, and may promote economic growth, competition, access to information and knowledge, poverty alleviation, and social inclusion. The United Nations General Assembly established World Development Information Day in 1972 and resolved to strengthen international cooperation to address global development problems. Every year on October 24, World Development Information Day is celebrated around the world.
The UN General Assembly has said that dissemination and mobilization of information will lead to greater awareness of development issues, especially among young people, and will lead to greater efforts in the field of international development assistance.
