    Exclusive audio

    Background:

World Father's Day, also known as International Fathers Day, is a day dedicated to celebrating and honoring fathers and father figures worldwide. It is a time to recognize and appreciate the contributions, sacrifices, and love that fathers provide to their families and communities.

While Father's Day is celebrated on different dates in various countries, the concept of a global Fathers Day aims to promote the importance of fatherhood and the positive impact fathers have on their children's lives.

What would you like to give your father today?

There are some special festivals in the month of Ashadh starting from Gemini Sankranti. Trishul Jatra is performed at Pashupatinath temple on Ashtami of Krishna Paksha of Ashadha. Similarly, Jagannath Rathyatra is held on Ashadh Shukla Dwitiya. The four-month fast (Chaturmasa Brata) starts from Ashadh Shukla Dashami. Welcome to Asar this year, all of us. Plant some and harvest in thousands, take care of the soil and it will take care of us.

The exact origins of World Fathers Day are not clear, but it is believed to have evolved from the United States' observance of Fathers Day, which began in the early 20th century. The official recognition of Fathers Day in the United States came in 1972 when it was signed into law by President Richard Nixon.World Fathers Day is typically celebrated on the third Sunday in June, following the tradition established in the United States. However, some countries may have their own designated dates for Fathers Day. For example, in Australia, Fathers Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in September.

On this day, children and family members often express their gratitude and love for their fathers through various gestures, such as giving cards, gifts, or spending quality time together. It is a time for families to come together and show appreciation for the paternal figures in their lives.

World Fathers Day serves as a reminder of the vital role fathers play in the upbringing and development of their children. It promotes the importance of strong and nurturing father-child relationships and encourages society to recognize and support fathers in their roles as caregivers, mentors, and role models.

Please note that the celebration and customs of Fathers Day may vary across cultures and countries.

    World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

    विश्व अग्रज दुर्व्यवहार जागरुकता दिवस

    Background of elderly abuse day

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) is commemorated each year on June 15th to highlight one of the worst manifestations of ageism and inequality in our society, elder abuse.

Elder abuse is any act that causes harm to an older person and is carried out by someone they know and trust, such as a family member or friend. The abuse may be physical, social, financial, psychological, or sexual and can include mistreatment and neglect.

WEAAD was officially recognized by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2011, following a request by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (INPEA), who first established the commemoration in June 2006.

In many parts of the world, elder abuse occurs with little recognition or response. It is a global social issue that affects the health, well-being, independence, and human rights of millions of older people worldwide and an issue that deserves the attention of all in the community.

Now in Nepal, due to more foreign employment and immigration, older generations are forced to live alone in villages. They wait for weeks and months just to receive a call and messages of the children abroad, every one among us, let's keep their expectations in our hearts. The reserved seats for elderly people and some allowances are not enough, let's value their existence, experiences, voices, and expectations.

Utmost love to all elderly people.
