House of Representatives Member Election 2082

    Vote correctly, protect your vote!

In the House of Representatives election taking place on Falgun 21, everyone is encouraged to participate enthusiastically and cast their vote in a disciplined manner. Please carefully read the information below to ensure you vote correctly and prevent your vote from being invalidated.

    1. What documents should you carry when going to vote?

When visiting the polling center, you must carry any one of the following original official identification documents approved by the Election Commission:

    • Voter ID Card: Original card issued by the Election Commission.
    • Citizenship Certificate: Original Nepali citizenship certificate.
    • Passport: Official passport.
    • Driver’s License: Government-issued license.
    • National Identity Card: Government-issued national ID card.
    • Land Ownership Certificate: Land ownership document in your name.

    Special Information:

If you do not have the original voter ID card, you may still vote by presenting:

A printed copy of your voter ID card screenshot from the Nagarik App, or

A printed voter ID card downloaded from the official system of the Election Commission Nepal after entering your details.

How to check your name and polling center?

To find out where your name is listed and where you need to vote, follow these steps:

    • Visit: https://election.gov.np/np/page/voter-list-db
    • Click on “Voter List.”
    • Select your Province, District, Local Level, Ward, and Polling Station.
    • Search for your name in the list and click on “Voter Details.”
    • Enter your date of birth or citizenship number to view your detailed information and polling center.
    • Taking a screenshot or printout of this information will make it easier to find your serial number on election day.

    3. Correct way to vote

At the polling center, you will receive two types of ballot papers:

    • Red Ink Ballot: For the First-Past-the-Post (Direct) candidate.
    • Black Ink Ballot: For the Proportional Representation political party.

Stamp clearly with the swastika stamp in the center of the white space inside the box of your chosen

election symbol. Be careful that the ink does not smudge onto another symbol, as this may invalidate your vote.

    4. Situations where your vote can be invalid (Be Careful!)

Small mistakes can cause your vote to be rejected:

    • Stamping outside the box or on the line between two boxes.
    • Stamping on two or more symbols on the same ballot paper.
    • Using a thumbprint instead of the official stamp.
    • Stamping repeatedly on the same symbol because the ink looked unclear.

    Important:

Before casting your ballot, make sure the ballot paper has the polling officer’s signature. A ballot without a signature will be invalid.

    5. Ballot box submission process

    After voting:

    • Drop the red ballot paper into the ballot box marked with a red indicator
    • Drop the black ballot paper into the ballot box marked with a black indicator.

Hamro Patro - Connecting Nepali Communities
Hamro Patro is one of the first Nepali app to include Nepali Patro, launched in 2010. We started with a Nepali Calendar mobile app to help Nepalese living abroad stay in touch with Nepalese festivals and important dates in Nepali calendar year.
