Indra Jaatra
'Yenya Poonhi'
Kathmandu is a city of history precisely a prehistoric city, the origin of the holy Pashupatinath region of Devadeva Mahadev is not mentioned in any scriptures or history copperplate or inscription, but the tolerance, culture, civilization and cultural heritage of this city has become an invaluable ancient asset to the world today.
There is a taste of civilization and peace in the soil and climate of Kathmandu and Kathmandu is not only a city of gods and temples but also a city of many festivals and ancient civilizations with diversity. Indra Jatra i.e. 'Yenya Poonhi' in Nepal language is one of the biggest festivals celebrated in Basantapur, an ancient settlement of Kathmandu city.
When Kathmandu people captured Lord Indra
Let's start with the legend that Lord Indra of the heavens came to Kathmandu in human form to steal the flowers and Parijat required for the fast of Vasundhara Devi, his mother. As lord Indra stole flowers without asking permission from the gardener, they used their tantric power to find Indra and tied him up in the middle of the road.
The idols of Indra tied at Indrachowk, Kilagal and Naradevi in Kathmandu are also displayed in high Dabali, stage. To free her son Indra, who was imprisoned by the people of Kathmandu, his mother herself came to Kathmandu and took Indra back, promising to give adequate fog and mists in return for her son. The legend that rice grows and ripens on time due to the same special fog in this season is still alive in the vernacular. The main function of Indrajatra is to set up a lingo (flag) and organize a rath yatra in a joyous atmosphere.
After the black book/ Goat, prepared for a special ritual by worshiping the tantric method, is left in the forest at Ugrachandi Nala in Kavre district, the first plant's leaf eaten by the goat is cut and the rainbow flag lingo on Ekadashi day is prepared from that tree.
The lingo prepared in this way is also called 'Yonsi' in the local Nepal language. The lingo is placed in front of the idol of the great Kal Bhairav at Hanuman Dhoka in Basantapur Darwar Square. Once this Lingo holds high, Indra Jatra movement commences. However, this year is stagnant, we hope and wish the commemoration could be continued next year. The special lingo prepared in this way is decorated with various symbols and flags. Worship is done by placing a statue of an elephant with Indra at the base of the lingo.
History and process of Indra Jatra
In Kathmandu, the Indra Jatra is believed to have been practiced by the Lichchavikalin king Gunakamdev in the tenth century, while the Kumari Jatra is believed to have started in the mid-eighteenth century. On this day, the unprecedented tolerant relationship between the Buddhist Newa community of Kathmandu and the Newa communities of Hindu faith can be seen in Basantapur Durbar Square in Kathmandu. Thus, the Newa community celebrates Indrajatra with joy and enthusiasm for eight days with various stages and cultural pageants.
Also, three days after the holding of the lingo, Kumari, Ganesh, and Akash Bhairav (Savbhaku), who are living goddesses in the Basantapur Durbar Square area, have a tradition of making a rath yatra. It is also customary to stay awake all night at Indradaha in Dahchok, about 7.2 km west of Kathmandu, and take a bath the next day.
Vishwokarma Pooja
Vishwakarma Pooja is celebrated on the 1st of Asoj, i.e. in the form of worship of Baba Vishwakarma, a scholar of construction and technology production and study. Today, the followers of Vedic Sanatan Hindu religion worship in honor of Baba Vishwakarma in this Vishwakarma Pooja.
Who is Lord Vishwokarma?
Baba is a craft expert for the gods and is the builder of the buildings of each deity, the craftsman of weapons, and the creator and maker of vehicles. According to the scriptures, Vishwakarma was the son of Brahma, who had five sons and an only daughter. His only daughter Sandhya was married to Lord Surya, the owner of global energy and natural resources of heat.
Baba is the inspiration for handicrafts, craftsmen, artisans, and thousands of material creations. Even in today's modern age, most of the garages, factories, manufacturing technology sites and various workplaces active in various metal works in Nepal are decorated and commemorated in honor of the technology and many construction practices and innovations he introduced since the Vedic period. In Vishwakarma Baba's worship, it is customary to set up an idol of Baba and worship it on that day and to ritually integrate that idol in rivers, lakes, and ponds the next day. As vehicles are worshiped today, so public transport may not be readily available today. May every instrument and mechanical achievement of human life always protect us.
Vastu diwas
Vastu Day is also being celebrated today. The architecturel significance of Wastu is given high importance in the construction of houses, temples, chaitya chautari, and townships. It is an ancient science and sub-veda. There is an Eastern belief that physical infrastructure should be built on the basis of Vishwakarma and the integrals of Wastu architecture. It is mentioned in the Wastu Bidhya that if the architecture is constructed by determining the location and direction of natural greatness, Panchamahabhuta sky, air, fire, earth, and water, then prosperity, health, and all welfare will be achieved from it. Today, more people are interested in architecture than in the past. It has become relevant to make the house building strong and beautiful and to get material comforts. At the same time, the day has been spreading public awareness to create a disaster-resistant house and make it a lifelong home.
Kanya Sakranti
Coolness is beginning to be felt under the huge blue sky with the decreasing heat. The rain-soaked soils are now slowly drying up and the paddy fields are starting to crack because of the dryness. Bhadaure Dhan and ghaiya may have been harvested and on the process of being beaten rice for the upcoming Dashain. There are 12 months and 12 solstices in a year. These 12 solstices are classified into 4 categories, Ion, Vishnubha, Vishnupadi, and Sadasitamukhi Sankranti. All Sankrantis are very important for charitable activities. According to the Hindu solar calendar, the first day of the sixth month is Kanya Sankranti. Welcome to the Kanya Sakranti of this year, Sun today moves to Kanya Rashi from Simha Rashi.
Kanya Sakranti is usually an alarm of upcoming Dashain and convoy of festive excitements, best wishes.
Ananta Chaturdashi
According to religious beliefs, when the Pandavas lost all their wealth and honor in gambling, they were living a miserable life in the forest with Mrs. Draupadi. At that time, Lord Krishna had requested Yudhisthira to fast reverently on this day. Following the advice of Lord Krishna, the five Pandavas methodically fasted on Ananta Chaturdashi, and the effect of this fast was that the Pandavas were liberated from their miserable lives.
Today is the day of worshiping and adoring Lord Anantnath (Lord Vishnu) and fasting with reverence. Chaturdashi of Bhadra Shukla side is called Ananta Chaturdashi.
ॐ अनन्ताय नम:
Worship method (Puja Method of Anant Chaturdashi)
Today in the morning by bathing etc. daily worship should be prepared with a pure mind. First of all, the urn should be installed and the Ashta Dal should be placed in it and the eternal God of Kush should be established. One should worship Lord Anantnath (Lord Vishnu) with a pure heart by placing an infinite sutra with fourteen knots in front of the urn. It is especially good to worship Ananta Chaturdashi during the day.
Best wishes
Rashtriya Chalachitra diwas: National Cinema Day of Nepal.
Every year Asoj 1 is also celebrated as National Film Day. The Film Development Board has been celebrating this day on the 1st of Asoj every year in 2012 with various programs. In the early days, there was a concept of celebrating this week as a movie week and concluding on the day, but gradually it started celebrating it only on 1st Asoj with various programs.
The Film Development Board is an organization established on June 30, 2000, with the main objective of promoting films and institutional development of filmmakers.
Background of Nepali movie making
Satya Harishchandra, a first Nepali language film produced in Kolkata in 1951 by DB Parajuli. After that, the Nepal-produced film Aama was released on October 7, 1964. After slowly going through various ups and downs, Nepali cinema is now succeeding in projecting its image on the world map. In 2021 BS, the then radio singer and musician Shiv Shankar Manandhar and theater actor Sushri Bhuvan Chand acted in the movie Aama. Then in 2023 BS, another much-awaited Nepali film Maitighar was released. Maitighar, starring Indian actor Mala Sinha and Nepali CP Lohani, went on to become a real-life couple.Sadly Mr Lohani left the world this year.
The heart of the Nepali audience, which has not forgotten the swift plot of Darpan Chaya, has been plundered with the touching and realistic acting of Haku Kale and Thinley Lundup. Now, Nepali films have started trading for millions and the market has expanded abroad due to the love of the Nepali community.
Aim for the camera and the screen
Let the right scene and dialogue of the society come to the heart in a film
Let's love Nepali movies
Rashtriya Bigyan Diwas, National science day of Nepal.
Science is a device with principles. It simplifies people's daily lives. But culture is life. It is bringing people and society to life. Therefore, for the prosperity of the country, it is necessary to bring science and culture together. It is necessary to preserve not only the heritage of the ancestors but also the original science, technology, and culture.
Background:
The government started celebrating National Science Day on Asoj 1, 2070 BS. The then Prime Minister Dr. The joint government formed under the leadership of Baburam Bhattarai decided to celebrate National Science Day from 2070 BS. Some of its objectives are specified.
For example, to mobilize individuals and organizations from all sections, communities, and professional sectors of the country to contribute to the field of science and technology and to raise public awareness of science and technology. Similarly, to create an environment in which policymakers from the grassroots play an active role in this process and to work for awareness and campaign-oriented work. In this context, the 'Science-Culture for Prosperity' program is envisaged.
In 1918 AD, modern science and technology education was started in Nepal from Tri Chandra College. The university was established 31 years later. After this, diversity became institutionalized in both education and research. The role played by TU in the faculties and thematic disciplines including Science and Technology, Medicine, Agriculture, and Animal Science, Forest Science, Engineering, Sociology, Geology, Anthropology, Management, Education, Law, and Humanities is remarkable.
According to a survey of the state of science and technology conducted by the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) in 2066-67 BS, the government of Nepal has invested 0.38 percent of the gross domestic product. Experts have suggested maintaining it at 1 percent.
Let's create an environment to invest 1 percent of GDP in research and development. Let's dig mines. Let's encourage research-directed markets and industries. Let's create more employment in science and technology. The retired professor from the university is a think tank. Let's create a culture of transferring their experience to the youth.
Let's understand the science within the culture. Let's learn Vedic mathematics and modern mathematics. Let's create an environment for teaching traditional technology. Let's preserve and upgrade traditional technology.
Science is life and technology is the future.
Poornima Vrata
The last day of Shukla Paksha is the full moon day. On this tithi, the moon is the brightest and magnificent. It is believed that fasting on this day brings immense lunar grace to health, prosperity, and peace. On the full moon day, Lord Shiva and Vishnu are especially worshiped. Special worship to Lord Vishnu is done in the form of Satya Narayan Puja. Satya Narayan Puja is usually performed whenever possible, although the fruits of this puja performed on the day of the full moon are very abundant.
From a scientific point of view, it is said that gravity will have a great effect on the earth on the day of the full moon and self-purification will be done by fasting on this day and remembering the name of God. By fasting on this day, the metabolic process will be strengthened, gastric problems will be solved and positive energy will increase in the body.
This day is fasted from sunrise in the morning to moonrise in the evening. Some people observe this fast without drinking water, while others observe this fast by eating only one meal and eating no salt (alino) food. In the evening, after the moonrise, the fast ends with the sighting of the moon. Happy Jestha Shukla Purnima to everyone this year.
Let there be an end to the flood and landslide, let there be the protection of both religion and the followers of religion.
