Gai Tihar | Sombare Aunshi
Significance of cow (Gaumata): From Sanatan Texts/ scriptures
Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva recited this verse, which revealed the importance of Gaumata.
त्वं माता सर्व देवानां त्वं च यज्ञस्य कारणम् । त्वं तीर्थ सर्वतीर्थानां नमस्तेस्तु सदानधे ।
O Destroyer of sins! You are the mother of all Deities. You are the reason for Yajna (sacrificial fire). Among all Tirthas (Holy places), you are the holiest. I pay my obeisance to you.
Manu Samhita Lesson 4 Verse 162
A guru, teacher, mother, father, Brahmin, cow and yogi should not be killed.
We want to keep Brahmins as aspirants who are striving to have knowledge of the universe and who want to understand the importance of Brahmin, regardless of caste.
What the Vedas say about the cow?
According to the Vedas, the cow is considered a universal symbol.
According to the Atharvaveda, 330 million deities live inside the cow. Lord Krishna has described the divine form of the cow as 'Dhanunamasmi Kamadhuk'.
Arthaveda 1 of 16 of 14
यदि नो गां हमि यद्यश्वं यदि पूरुषम् ।
तं त्वा सीसेन विध्यामो यथा नोऽसो अवीरहा ॥
If anyone destroys our cows, horses or people, he becomes a partner in sin and suffers punishment.
Many such verses advocate cow protection and non-violence. Today, in this special issue of Gai Tihar, I would like to dedicate these verses to the love of Mother Cow.
Gai Tihar
Today, Goddess Lakshmi's incarnation 'Cow Mother' is served. The place of cow is very high in Vedic Sanatan Hindu rites and Sanatan Dharma.
This evening it is also famous for making different shapes of rangoli in the courtyard using different colors. These rangolis are prepared in round, oval, quadrangular, triangular shapes.
There is a saying that Lord Lakshmi will come to the earth tonight and give blessings, so today from the entrance of Tulsi Moth or courtyard in front of the house, the footprints of Lakshmi are taken to all the rooms of the house.
May the blessings of Bhaileni be as bright as the sun and may this joy last forever throughout the year. May the enthusiasm of Rangoli remain glorious in our courtyard, best wishes for Tihar, the festival of light, and seven colors.
The proverb "Gai and Mai" is very popular in India. Because the milk given by cows is as nutritious as the milk given by the mother, the cow is also respected as the mother cow.
Modern science has also proved that cow's importance is due to the fact that the cow of local breed of cows takes energy from the sun and moon and gives energy and purity to people through milk, wheat and cow dung.
Deunsi
Another big highlight of the day is Deusi. Yesterday's Bhaile's Vaka and today Deunse's Vaka. Of course, due to the Corona tragedy and the health crisis, these interesting things will not continue this year, but we will rejoice in the memories of the previous year and cultivate hope for forthcomings.
Deunse is a pre-historic storytelling and singing tradition, where a group of people visits a neighbor's doorstep, courtyard, and organize a musical and lyrical event for a short time. This is a traditional way of storytelling, those Deunse narrates several stories of ancient King Bali and other ancient pauranik characters. Later Deunse receives foods, grains, money, and thanks from the house owner, the ceremony ends with the flow of best wishes and blessings to the house owner, family, and society.
Utmost wishes for the coming years.
Sombare Aaunshi , Monday no moon night.
Sombare Aaunshi has a specific significance in Nepal, this dates back to January 2, 1990, when an earthquake of 8.4 Richter scale struck Nepal. This day was Monday no moon day or Monday AAunshi. And that Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Venus, Saturn, and Rahu were in the same zodiac sign.
Even today is Monday and its Aaunshi. The day that falls on a no moon on Monday is called a Monday Aaunshi. According to our calendar, one Monday falls every seven days and one no moon day falls every month. Even today is Monday. After the earthquake, Aunshi was seen on Monday with terror and fear, but not so, the greatness and importance of Aunshi on Monday has been inseparable and unbroken for centuries.
But the coincidence of Mondays and no moon day is only occasional that it happens just once a twice a year. This festival is considered auspicious for bathing or giving alms. Devotees from far and wide visit various pilgrimage stalls only for bathing.
According to Hindus, it takes a great coincidence or fortune to get the date of today's "Monday Aunshi". It is said that even the characters of the Mahabharata in their lifetime could not get the date of Aunshi on this day i.e. Monday.
In mythological times, the number of no moon day on Monday was very low, but with the onset of the Kali Yuga, the number of Monday Aaunshi began to increase on earth. It is said that such Aaunshi occurs to give devotees more opportunities for salvation and humanitarian activities. So what is your plan for this Monday Aaunshi?
According to Hindu scriptures, it is said that one can attain virtue by bathing and meditating in silence on this day. Monday is the day of the moon. The moon is the symbol of the mind and the sun is the symbol of the brain. Monday is also considered as Shivaji's day and today is dedicated to Lord Shivaji.
Utmost wishes
Peace and brotherhood
