    Dar Khane Din

    यसपाला तीजमा यस्तै भयो आमा
    अर्कोपाला तीजमा खोलाले नछेके

Meaning: This year's Teej is compromised, my mother, next year is the hope, if river don't stop.

A woman is addressing her mother and laments for not being able to be together. She further expresses hope and consoles herself for forthcoming years.

Teej is not only a ritual but also a culture. Onlookers see it as a feminist festival, but if you open the eyes and the walls of the mind, Teej is also the enthusiasm for the gender equality. Teej can be taken as a common platform of all female relatives including mother, daughter, daughter-in-law, mother-in-law, mother-in-law, sister, sister in Nepal and beyond.

Tomorrow is Teej and today is Dar Khane Din, lets dwell into this.

    What is Dar?
Meaning fast or strong, the word Dar is the word that comes to most of our festival eves. When there was a provision to eat only after fasting or performing puja on the next day, it was a custom to eat a solid meal at night and go to bed as late as possible. This trend is popular as "Dar" these days.

    Teej Ko Dar
Tomorrow's difficult Teej fast has to be done and the solid meal on the eve will be helpful. Because tomorrow's fast is not only a fast but also a whole day of dancing, talking, worship and fun. In this way, it is customary for women to gather in one place and eat sweets and sweets in the middle of the night on the eve of Teej.

Teej is also enthusiastic about gender equality and gender equity. Teej can be taken as a common platform for the smiles of all-female relatives including mother, daughter, daughter-in-law, mother-in-law, mother-in-law, and sister.

In any case, I wish you all the best on this Dar khane din, good health, and longevity for our family, find a suitable partner and good luck to all the sisters.

Hamro Patro is one of the first Nepali app to include Nepali Patro, launched in 2010. We started with a Nepali Calendar mobile app to help Nepalese living abroad stay in touch with Nepalese festivals and important dates in Nepali calendar year. Later on, to cater to the people who couldn’t type in Nepali using fonts like Preeti, Ganesh and even Nepali Unicode, we built nepali mobile keyboard called Hamro Nepali keyboard.
