The birthday of Sikh guru Govind Singh.

Guru Govind Singh Jayanti is a Sikh festival that commemorates the birthday of Sikh guru Govind Singh.

Today, January 5, is the birth anniversary of the tenth Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Govind Singh. Guru Govind Singh, a great warrior, poet, devotee, and spiritual leader, became the tenth Guru of the Sikhs after the death of his father Guru Tegh Bahadur on 11 November 1675. Guru Govind Singh has conveyed the message of love, unity, and brotherhood throughout his life.

Guru Govind Singh's childhood
Guru Gobind was called Govind Rai in his childhood. His father Guru Tegh Bahadur was the ninth Sikh Guru. When Guru Gobind was born, his father Guru Tegh Bahadur went to Assam to teach religion. Gobind Singh spent four years of his childhood in Patna. The house where he lived at that time in Patna has now been established by a Guru named "Takht Shri Patna Sahib". He has come to Punjab with his family after spending 4 years in Patna.

Two years later, Guru Govind Singh moved with his father and mother to the Shivalik Hills in the Himalayas, where he received his early education.

At the initiative of Govind Singh and his father, the place where they lived was completely free from any kind of discrimination. Govind Singh's father continued to spread the wave of equality among the people there.

 However, after some Kashmiri pandits forced Gobind's father, Tegh Bahadur, to convert to Islam, he refused to convert to Islam, and his father, Guru Tegh Bahadur, was beheaded at Chandni Chowk in Delhi. After this cruel incident, Guru Govind Singh has been established as the new Guru of the Sikhs.

Subsequently, the leadership of Guru Govind Singh brought many new changes in the history of the Sikh community. In 1699 he built the "Khalsa". "Khalsa" is the collective form of the followers of the Sikh religion. Guru Govind was famous for giving examples to his devotees.

Guru Govind Singh made the Guru Granth Sahib the guru of the Sikhs and ended the practice of individuals becoming gurus. In this sense too, he was the last teacher of the Sikhs. Today, on the occasion of his birth anniversary, let us all remember him once and for all.
