    Happy new year, 2021|

Say goodbye or welcome, the year 2020 is going and the year 2021 is coming. 2020 was a difficult and problematic year. This year has been hailed as the biggest crisis since World War II, with one-third of the world's population living under a roof for months. The world is still under the influence of different versions of the virus, some countries are not yet open, some are half open and some are recovering.

This year has proved that white coats and armies both are equally important in saving a nation, and hospitals are safer than arsenals.

This year the world has completely moved towards digital gears, now human embraces have been replaced by chat board emojis. Crowds are now growing in digital platforms, and the entry of humans into digital platforms has not happened in any other year like this year.

The year 2020 has seen unprecedented transformations in a single year. This year has gone with the increased dream of a new and normal world. The desperation for normal years have increased this year like never before.  Life can be taken as a bag of experiences and memories, every year a new experience is added and the old year passes and the new year comes.

Although most of the festivals and office matters of Hamro Patro are based on Vikrama Sambat. Anno Domini is therefore also considered as a visitor and foreign Samvat in Nepal, but since it is the international Samvat, including those living abroad and working in international organizations, is celebrated all over the world, this Samvat has a different reputation and global usefulness.

Hamro Patro also wishes its users a happy year 2021. Vikram Sambat, BS is 57 years ahead of AD and 12 months like January-February is the year that marks the AD year, while Vikram has 12 months like Vaishakh and Jestha.

In each new year, we desire to change something, but most of those desires and promises are lost with the maturing year. The convoy of achievements and positive thinking and progress of this year should stay ahead of you, look back, and focus on the things you have planned. This is your year and it's auspicious for you.

In the year 2021, let the dreams come true and let there be opportunities to move forward to fulfill them, let us get the value of
sweat and let the unwavering smile make Nepali faces beautiful.

    Happy new year 2021

Nepali National Topi day (Rashtriya Topi Diwas)

The year changes, the calendar does. The measurement of the years is done accordingly and the calendar and the eve are ever-changing. Let's talk about the Nepali hat associated with Nepali nationality and the Rashtriya Topi Diwas which is celebrated every year on January first.

Today we want to recite the glory of this Nepali hat, which signifies the head of Mount Everest, adorning the head of a Gorkhali hero who fearlessly fought in the world wars. Nepali hat is adorned on the head of every Nepali in the form of Mount Everest on the head, and Nepali people have recently been celebrating Nepali Hat Day on January 1 every year.

The stories of the first Rana Prime Minister Jung Bahadur Rana, when he went to Britain in 1840 and saw the attire worn by the Bengali crew. Junga Bahadur replicated the same attire which bought the present coat and the Dhaka hat to Nepal for good. This is the unconfirmed history behind the Dhaka hat. 'Dhaka' is a special type of cloth woven by Nepali hand and the hat made from it is the pride of Nepali.

Looking at the history of the Dhaka hat, we have to look at the reign of the British Empire in India. At that time, hats made in Dhaka Bangladesh were imported to Nepal.

Gradually, this hat made in Dhaka came to be called Dhaka hat, this hat has become synonymous with Nepali pride. Today, Nepal is self-sufficient in Dhaka cloth. Dhaka cloth is produced in many places including Palpa.

Dhaka's clothes, hats, and slippers are considered sacred and dignified in every wedding and ceremony in Nepal. Dhaka hat is indispensable in Nepali dress, there is no meaning in Nepali national dress without Dhaka hat.

This hat is equally important for Nepalis living either in flatlands, mountains, or hills. Or even for those Nepali who are residing abroad. As I wrap my today's write-up, I have a question to ask. Do you have a Nepali hat?

    Happy Rastriya Topi Diwas

Hamro Patro - Connecting Nepali Communities
Hamro Patro is one of the first Nepali app to include Nepali Patro, launched in 2010. We started with a Nepali Calendar mobile app to help Nepalese living abroad stay in touch with Nepalese festivals and important dates in Nepali calendar year. Later on, to cater to the people who couldn’t type in Nepali using fonts like Preeti, Ganesh and even Nepali Unicode, we built nepali mobile keyboard called Hamro Nepali keyboard.
