भदौ शुक्ल एकादशी
Haripariwartini Ekadashi Wrata and Waaman Dwadashi Wrata
There is a classical belief that there is no other way to destroy sins than this Ekadashi brat. It is believed that fasting on Haripariwartini Ekadashi will bring the results equivalent of performing supreme Vajpayee Yajna. Haripariwartini Ekadashi is also called Jayanti Ekadashi and Waaman Ekadashi.
According to the mythology, the name of Shuklapaksha Ekadashi in August is Haripariwartini Ekadashi. This Ekadashi is called Haripariwartini Ekadashi as it is the day when Lord Vishnu, who is sleeping from Ashadh Shukla Harishyani Ekadashi, changes his position. Pariwartini means changing the position. Lord Vishnu, the lord of all three worlds, is described as sleeping on the back of the serpent king, Seshnaag's back. After the pooja of this Ekadashi, copper, silver, rice, and curd are offered.
In the Tretayuga, Bali, the son of a demon named Virochana, was the ultimate devotee of Lord Vishnu. But he had defeated Indralok and all the deities because of his prejudice against Indra.
When the Indradi deity, including Jupiter, approached Vishnu and started chanting the Vedic mantra, Vishnu assumed the form of a dwarf in his fifth incarnation to free the deities from Bali, the Asura power. First Waamana was not a Lord, but a human Avatar of God Vishnu who came to earth as a poor, short (in height often cited dwarf-like) scholar (Brahmin). Secondly, Waamana did not kill king Bali (or Maha Bali as he is more popularly known as). He pushed him to Paathaala (more specifically Suthala which is ranked above Paathala in living indices of the underworld) where he is supposed to belong to.
Who are Asuras and Debas ?
Both Devas and Asuras are superhuman entities. Not all Devas are completely good and not all Asuras are evil. Devas are assigned the territory of Swarga and Asuras are assigned the territory of Paathaala. (Humans are assigned the territory of Earth.)
After Vishnubhakta Bali begged to stay with Vishnu in the Paathaala as well, on the day of Bhadrapad Shukla Ekadashi, the recognition of Hari Pariwartini Ekadashi has been established according to the legend of Vishnu institutionalizing its presence in the ashram of Bali.
As the tithi of Ekadashi and Dwadashi (11th and 12th day) collides on the same day, today is also the tithi for Waaman Dwadashi wrata. People observe fast and depict their utmost devotion in this Dwadashi.
Best wishes on this day.
International Day against Nuclear Tests
29 August
Let's start with a quote from the great scientist Albert Einstein: "I don't know what would happen if there was a third world war, but if there was a fourth world war, stone weapons would be used."
Why did Einstein say this to challenge this prosperity of development? After all, why did Einstein, the great scientist of the century, see the possibility of losing this background of world development and this height of civilization?
After all, why does the existence of the world seem to be trapped from time to time?
Along with the practice of modernization of human civilization, the world has started fighting wars with horses, elephants, swords, bows, and shields. World War II ended only after brutal nuclear launches in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan.
Keep in mind that in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, trees are still unable to grow, and radiation from nuclear weapons still causes various health problems and long-term effects. August 6, 1945, a nuclear attack killed nearly 200,000 people.
Since nuclear weapons testing began on 16 July 1945, nearly 2,000 have taken place. In the early days of nuclear testing little consideration was given to its devastating effects on human life, let alone the dangers of nuclear fallout from atmospheric tests. Hindsight and history have shown us the terrifying and tragic effects of nuclear weapons testing, especially when controlled conditions go awry, and in light of the far more powerful and destructive nuclear weapons that exist today.
The legacy of nuclear testing is nothing but destruction. The CTBT is vital to ensuring there are no more victims; it is also essential to advancing nuclear disarmament. On the International Day against Nuclear Tests, I reiterate my call for all States that have not yet done so, to sign and ratify the Treaty, especially those whose ratification is needed for the Treaty’s entry into force. In a world of rising tensions and divisions, our collective security depends on it.
António Guterres
Secretary-General United Nations
Such weapons are called mass destruction weapons, producing a total of 1.2 million TNB of 1,100 kilograms of thermonuclear force capable of destroying a huge state-of-the-art city through radiation and explosions.
Most of the world's population is below the poverty line, with children not getting nutritious food and not even adequate clothing. However, more and more money is being spent on nuclear research and weapons development. From self-proclaimed contractors of democracy to countries living in separate systems without engaging with the world community, they are in the race for nuclear supremacy.
On December 2, 2009, the 64th General Assembly of the United Nations declared August 29 as the Day Against Nuclear Weapons. Even in the Hindu scriptures, we have read stories that if any weapon does not work, both the Brahmastra will be used and both the attacker and the attacker will suffer. Nuclear weapons can be compared to Brahmastra. Nuclear power is for development and growth, not for destruction. Today must have been an attempt to characterize such things. The world needs peace.
From the equator to the poles on both sides, from the Pacific Ocean to the Dead Sea, from Mount Everest to the Sahara Desert, we are all waiting for the time when the slogans of peace and brotherhood echoes.
The meaning of life is to live. Protect everyone!
